Dr. Rakesh Kalra received his undergraduate education unto Senior Cambridge at St. Joseph's Academy, in Dehradun, and his medical degree from King George's Medical College, a premier college of repute of Lucknow. He joined the medical college in 1974, passed his MBBS course in 1978, then Masters in Surgery in 1982, and finally M.Ch in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 1986. He worked for a year at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences , Lucknow, and then at Narendra Mohan Hospital in a suburb of Delhi for 4 years as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon.
He finally moved in 1991, to his home town Dehradun with wife Dr. Richa and son Raghav, and opened his private practice.
Dr. Kalra is fond of visiting places and traveling, and constructively combines this hobby with attending Workshops and Conferences to keep himself abreast of the latest developments in his field. His other recently acquired hobby is working on the computers.
